“All my work is done with used items that everyone forgets and I am trying to give them a new life.’ said Ukrainian artist Hanne.”
Hanne Zaruma explores nostalgia and '90s aesthetics, posted on Instagram and known for her unique artwork. i-D, Dazed Magazine has started to cast her as an emerging young Ukrainian artist.
Seeing beauty in the gadgets of the old days, Hanne Zaruma meticulously scouts for second-hand stores and street stalls in her hometown of Lviv for a variety of retro computers and discarded flip phones. "All my work is done with second-hand items that everyone forgets about." she said.
She uses these objects to adorn and to create forward-looking pieces such as vintage shoes, handbags, face masks, glasses, etc.
"The human face is interesting, it's already a work of art. My work conveys the message that the viewer sees frequent magic and makes them smile."
