Observe and collect second-hand products on second-hand websites or platforms, select non-repeated products for in-depth investigation (why they were sold/acquired), Analyze deeply at the objects floating on the surface of our lives, and think rationally to analyze the designer's significance for that object they designed.
This is a data research of an old user from a second-hand website. I interviewed her and conducted a questionnaire on the second-hand items she sold or acquired at various ages.
By analyzing the age of users from second-hand websites, We can conclude that users between 15-25 year olds and 36-45 year olds have the largest proportion of selling second-hand items. Users that are aged between 26-35 account for the largest proportion who purchase second-hand items.
Through some interviews with users, we learned that young people aged bewteen 15-25 tends to follow trends or find their own style of life, so they will produce a lot of second-hand items that are no longer needed; at the same time, because young people at this time have just entered the society , the economic pressure is greater, so affordable second-hand goods are their best shopping choices.
Users aged 26-35 have entered a relatively stable life and have found their own life goals and self-style. Therefore, most of these users buy second-hand items on second-hand websites. Their goals are relatively clear, and the utilization rate of second-hand items is relatively high.
Users aged 36-45 tend to sell their own second-hand items. At this stage, users may have a lower sense of need for materials, or their social identity has begun to change (such as selling childhood items from children that are grown up). Some users sell items that are not commonly used or needed while socializing.
